Lee Alexander McQueen founded his label in London in 1992, after training as a tailor on Savile Row, and led it until his death in 2010. Sarah Burton, his long-time right hand, ran the house for the next thirteen years, and Seán McGirr took over in 2023. The bags are recognised by their hardware rather than by a logo, and the evening pieces are what the resale market pursues hardest. The Skull clutch closes on a jawbone clasp; the Knuckle carries a ringed metal grip in place of a handle. Structured daywear runs through the Heroine tote and its chain-strapped version, the Manta clutch, the Legend and the Curve. Leathers are mostly smooth or grained calf, and the plating on those clasps is the first thing to check on a used piece.
