Anya Hindmarch started her business in London in 1987 and has run it on two ideas that do not obviously sit together: careful organisation — labelled pouches, cases for the things that get lost inside a bag — and jokes. The house made news well beyond fashion in 2007 with a cotton tote printed against plastic bags, and it has kept returning to that subject since. The humour is visible in what appears here. Alongside the Ebury and the Pimlico, which are conventional structured leather bags, there are the Crisp Packet clutches built to look like foil snack wrappers, and the Maxi Zip. Materials run from full-grain calf to metallised film, and the two age nothing alike: check the film pieces for creasing and lifted print, the leather ones for corners and edges.
