The 2.55 is Chanel's reissued original: quilted in diamonds like the later flap bags, but closed with a rectangular turn-lock rather than the interlocking Cs, and hung on a chain of plain metal links without leather threaded through. The leather is usually a distressed, aged calfskin. Black leads, with metallics — gold and silver — better represented here than on the house's other bags. The aged finish is meant to look worn, which makes assessment harder: look past the surface to the corners and the flap edge, and check the chain links and the lock, whose plating rubs and whose spring loosens.
