Boy

The Boy is Chanel's squared, boxy flap bag, quilted in diamonds or chevrons and closed by a rectangular push-lock rather than a turn-lock. The chain is heavier than on the older flap bags and threaded with leather, and the body is usually calfskin or grained caviar over a plain fabric lining. Black accounts for most of what circulates, with blues and reds behind it. The hard edges are what date a bag: corners and piping rub through before anything else, and the plating on that large clasp and chain wears visibly. Check that the push-lock still engages firmly, since it loosens with use.
