Black leads in what circulates, and most of it is genuinely old. Age decides these: the quilting flattens, the lambskin dries and the interiors of the older pieces flake. Check the quilting faces and corners, the plating on whatever fitting the bag carries, and the lining, which is often the first thing to fail.
