Sugar

The Sugar is Lanvin's quilted flap bag: smooth lambskin or nappa worked with the house's cross stitching, closed with a flap and hung on a gold chain that carries a leather pad at the shoulder. It has been in the catalogue long enough to have passed through several hands at the house, and black and red dominate what is listed. Lambskin is thin and takes a scratch from almost anything, so the front panel and the quilting ridges are the first read. The chain is the second: plating wears at the links that sit on the shoulder, and the leather pad, being a separate piece, is often missing. Ask whether the pad is present before comparing two prices.
