Madras

Madras is a leather rather than a shape: goat hide tanned and grained so it stays soft and matte, which Miu Miu has used across shoulder bags, totes and top-handle designs, often with the house name stamped or stitched on the front. Pink and black lead, across a wide colour range. The hide is lightly finished and absorbent, so it marks readily, darkens where handled, and cannot be cleaned back. Check the corners and the base where the grain flattens, the edge paint, which cracks and is often restored, and the plating on the fittings.
