Mulberry

Roger Saul started Mulberry in Somerset in 1971, and the house has kept a working English factory since, which is unusual at this level and is part of what the older bags are bought for. The style is country rather than metropolitan: heavy vegetable-tanned leather, brass buckles and postman's locks, saddle stitching, and colours that darken with handling. The Bayswater, introduced in 2003, is the shape most listed — a squared tote closed by a single strap through a postman's lock — with the Bayswater Small and Bayswater tote beside it. The Alexa is the slouchier satchel that followed, and the Lily the small chain-strap bag. The Roxanne, Antony and Mitzy carry the earlier, heavier Somerset leathers.
