The Jitney is a rigid, briefcase-shaped bag with a flat top handle, a metal clasp and a squared body, usually carrying screen-printed text or the house's diagonal stripes. Blacks and whites lead. The printed text cracks and flakes where the leather flexes and cannot be restored, so inspect the whole printed face. Beyond it, check the clasp and its plating, the rigid corners, which take every knock, and the flat handle at its fittings.
