Pinko was founded in the late 1980s at Fidenza in northern Italy by Pietro Negra and Cristina Rubini, and has stayed a family company; their daughters now work in its creative and communications departments. It sits below the Italian luxury houses on price while borrowing their vocabulary of hardware and quilting, and it sells through its own stores and through wholesale across Europe and Asia. One design carries the accessories business. The Love Bag is a small quilted shoulder bag closed by two facing metal birds, and it accounts for most of what appears here — made across many seasons in nappa, suede, patent, velvet and canvas, with the bird clasp finished in gold, silver or enamel.
