Cabas

The Cabas is a plain linen or canvas tote with leather handles, most often finished with a band of sequins along the sides — the detail it is known for. It is also made in raffia, in tweed and in leather, in a wide range of sizes. Beiges and blues lead. Because the body is fabric, it is judged differently from leather: check whether sequins are missing in patches, whether the canvas has greyed or marked, and how the handles have worn where they are stitched on. Fabric here cannot be refinished, so staining is usually permanent.
